English summary: From 1977 to 1982, the German Archaeological Institute of Cairo, under the direction of Josef Eiwanger, conducted excavations of the more than 7500 year old archaeological site of Merimde- Benisalame at the edge of the western Nile delta. The results of the excavations at Merimde-Benisalame were published by Josef Eiwanger as a series: vol. I: The Findings of the Earliest Site (1984), vol. II: The Findings of the Middle Merimde Culture (1988), and vol. III: The Findings of the Later Merimde Culture (1992), to which is now added Merimde- Benisalame vol. IV, which is a compilation findings from graves and human skeletal remains uncovered during the excavations. The 158 graves from the Early, Middle, and Late Merimde culture, the Maadi culture and the early-dynastic period, as well as a later-period graves, were assessed and analyzed by F. A. Badawi and J. Kuckertz; F.W. Rosing, S. Bergander and S. Klug present the anthropological results of all skeletal artifacts. German description: Von 1977 bis 1982 fuhrte das Deutsche Archaologische Institut Kairo unter der Leitung von Josef Eiwanger Ausgrabungen in der uber 7500 Jahre alten archaologischen Statte Merimde-Benisalame am Rand des westlichen Nildeltas durch. Nachdem in den Banden Merimde-Benisalame I (Die Funde der Urschicht, 1984), II (Die Funde der mittleren Merimdekultur, 1988) und III (Die Funde der jungeren Merimdekultur, 1992) schon Ausgrabungsergebnisse und Funde von Josef Eiwanger veroffentlicht wurden, folgt nun in Merimde-Benisalame IV die Bearbeitung der wahrend der Ausgrabung aufgefundenen Bestattungen und menschlichen Skelettreste. Die insgesamt 158 Graber der alteren, mittleren und jungeren Merimdekultur, der Maadi-Kultur und der fruhdynastischen Zeit sowie einige jungere Graber werden von F. A. Badawi und J. Kuckertz ausgewertet, F. W. Rosing, S. Bergander und S. Klug prasentieren die anthropologischen Ergebnisse aller Skelettfunde.
