English summary: This volume contains essays by Isac Leo Seeligmann, a biblical scholar from Jerusalem and one of the outstanding exegetes of the last century. The studies represent the broad spectrum of his research, which ranged from biblical historiography and biblical law, from studies of prophecy and psalms to the history of the biblical text and innerbiblical interpretation. In a unique manner, Seeligmann’s studies demonstrate an extensive knowledge of traditional Jewish literature as well as classical and ancient literature. In addition to eight studies already published in German or English, this work also contains ten Hebrew essays, translated into German for the first time and thus made available to a wider audience interested in biblical scholarship and theology. German description: Dieser Band umfasst grundlegende Aufsatze des Jerusalemer Bibelwissenschaftlers Isac Leo Seeligmann, eines der herausragenden Exegeten des vorigen Jahrhunderts. Die hier vorgelegten Studien prasentieren das breite Spektrum seiner Forschungen von der biblischen Geschichtsuberlieferung und dem biblischen Recht uber Untersuchungen zu Prophetie und Psalmen bis hin zur Text- und Auslegungsgeschichte der judischen Bibel. Wegweisend sind unter anderem seine Arbeiten zu dem Phanomen der innerbiblischen Auslegung und seine meisterhafte Verbindung literarhistorischer Fragen und textgeschichtlicher Analysen. In singularer Weise kommt in Seeligmanns Untersuchungen eine umfassende Kenntnis der judischen Traditionsliteratur, aber auch der klassisch-antiken Literatur zum Tragen. Unubertroffen ist die Intensitat, in der traditionelle und neuzeitliche judische Auslegungen mit der modernen, im protestantischen Bereich entstandenen Bibelwissenschaft ins Gesprach gebracht werden.Der Sammelband enthalt neben acht bisher deutsch bzw. englisch publizierten Arbeiten zehn hebraische Aufsatze in deutscher Ubersetzung, die damit erstmals einer breiteren wissenschaftlichen und theologisch interessierten Offentlichkeit zuganglich werden.Ein fur diesen Band geschriebener Beitrag von Rudolf Smend stellt Person und Werk I.L. Seeligmanns vor.
