The work presents a new and comprehensive edition of the core of the Old Aramaic textual corpus, dated from the ninth to the early seventh century BCE. The edition of the inscriptions, based on the collation of the epigraphic material, contains philological and literary analyses, as well as analyses of the archaeological and historical contexts, accompanied by numerous photographs and illustrations. The work consists of two volumes. The first volume presents most of the Old Aramaic inscriptions in an approximate chronological order (Tell Fekheriye; the small inscriptions of Haza’el; Tel Dan; the stela of Zakkur; Tell Afis; the inscription of Bar-Hadad for Melqart; the inscriptions of Bar-Rakib from Zincirli; Qalaichi [Bukan]; Nerab; Nimrud). The second volume contains a new edition of the Aramaic inscriptions from Sefire along with the presentation of their probable archaeological context, and it also includes the analytical tools used for the inscriptions edited in both volumes (palaeography, glossary, indices).
