by Kathrin Liess
English summary: It was not until a long period of development had passed that the God of the Old Testament entered into a relationship with the dead and a hope for a life after death was beginning to develop. The individual Psalms are an important step along this path (the lamentations and hymns of thanksgiving by an individual, Psalms 16; 49 and 73). Kathrin Liess examines the concept of life and death in these Psalms as well as their contribution to the hope of life after death which found its expression in the resurrection texts in the late Old Testament era. Her study focuses on the exegesis and the classification of Psalm 16 from the perspective of the history of theology.
