Drama or narrative? This question aptly summarizes the recent debate within literary approaches to the prophetic books. In this work Alessandro G. K. Casagrande goes beyond this dichotomy and analyzes the Book of Amos as a narrative using the dramatic mode of narration.
Seit den 1970er Jahren ist die Forschung verstarkt an der Endgestalt der Prophetenbucher interessiert. Dabei hat die methodische Ausdifferenzierung zu dramen- und erzahltheoretischen Zugangen gefuhrt. Abseits loser Vergleiche zum Drama und eklektischer Ruckgriffe auf Erzahltheorien wurden diese Zugange aber noch nicht auf das Amosbuch angewandt. Daher integriert Alessandro G. K. Casagrande im Anschluss an die Literaturwissenschaft dramentheoretische Aspekte in einen erzahltheoretischen Zugang, um das Amosbuch als epische Erzahlung im dramatischen Modus zu plausibilisieren und zu analysieren. Dabei legt er nicht nur einen begrundeten Zugang zum Buch vor, sondern fuhrt auch die Eigenheiten zentraler Einzeltexte erzahltheoretisch weiter. Schliesslich bieten die unterschiedlichen Kommunikationsebenen die Moglichkeit einer diachronen Anknupfung, die zwischen der erzahlten Welt des Buches und eines Erzahlzeitpunkts in nachexilischer Zeit unterscheidet.
