Zu den Texten, die in mamlukischer Zeit in Kunstprosa, d.h. in gereimter Form und elaboriertem Stil, abzufassen waren, gehorten Einsetzungen in hohe Amter. Wahrend fur Juristen selten mehr als eine einzige Einsetzung erhalten ist, sind es nicht weniger als drei Einsetzungen fur ‘Imad ad-Din at-Tarasusi (st. 748/1348), der in Damaskus hanafitischer Oberrichter war und an vier Madrasahs wirkte. Zwei der drei Texte betreffen dieselbe Madrasah und sind von zwei verschiedenen Autoren verfasst worden, und zwei der drei Autoren sind Salah ad-Din as-Safadi (st. 764/1363) und Ibn Nubatah (st. 768/1366), die fuhrenden Stilisten der damaligen Zeit. Die Konstellation der drei Texte bietet eine einzigartige Moglichkeit fur stilistische und intertextuelle Fragestellungen. Nach einem einleitenden Kapitel zum Wirken ‘Imad ad-Din at-Tarasusis werden die drei Texte in Edition, Ubersetzung und Kommentar vorgestellt. Es folgen Kapitel zu den Juristen, zu denen der Ernannte in Vergleichspassagen in Bezug gesetzt wird, zu den damals dominanten Stilmitteln Tagnis und Tawriyah, zu den verschiedenen Arten von Intertextualitat, wobei auch Vorganger und Nachfolger der Autoren berucksichtigt sind, und zur Funktion der stilistischen Elaboriertheit solcher Texte. Die Untersuchung vermittelt ein differenziertes Bild von der stilistischen Komplexitat arabischer Kunstprosa im 14. Jahrhundert.
