La figure celeste des anges constitue une part importante des representations du monde divin dans la litterature biblique. Se declinant selon des nuances variees, leur fonction s’adapte aux diverses necessites de mise en scene dans le deroulement de l’histoire du salut. Les anges sont notamment sollicites pour preserver la transcendance de Dieu, tout en la revelant par leur presence ou par leur action en son nom. Le present volume contribue a l’etude de l’angelologie biblique, non sans deborder le champ strict du canon en direction du judaisme ancien proche de la periode neotestamentaire qui accorde une place importante aux representations apocalyptiques du monde celeste. Les differentes contributions s’interessent aux actions des anges dans les textes et recits etudies, mais elles etendent cette recherche a la determination de leur fonction litteraire. Si cette derniere peut etre d’ordre poetique, mythologique ou cosmogonique, elle a toujours une visee theologique. En effet, le denominateur commun a tous les roles tenus par des anges est de devoiler quelques traits caracteristiques du portrait de Dieu et de reveler certains aspects de son dessein salvifique.
