This volume is dedicated to ancient Lycia. The team of specialists brought together provide a thorough vision of current research on Lycia including archaeological analyses, textual information on religion from the Bronze age to the Greco-Roman period, the role of Lycian rulers through numismatics, and relations with Achaemenid Persia and Pharonic Egypt.

Ce volume reunit les contributions de plusiers specialistes belges, francais et italiens de la Lycie antique: Jacques des Courtils, Novella Vismara, Eric Raimond, Julien De Vos, Jan Tavernier et Rene Lebrun. Ces cinquante dernieres annees ont vu d’importants progres en matiere d’archeologie, de linguistique et d’histoire de la Lycie antique, ce qui necessite une mise au point. Le pays “Lukka” du deuxieme millenaire av. J.-C. sort de l’ombre; il est des lors possible de mesurer son importance face au monde hittite, a travers les siecles suivants, et de constater ainsi l’extraordinaire continuite linguistique, culturelle et religieuse de cette region d’Anatolie occidentale. L’histoire de cites telles que Patara, Pinara, Tlos, Telmessos, Termessos ou encore Xanthos s’eclaire d’un jour nouveau. De nombreux passages remarquables d’auteurs grecs et latins beneficient aussi d’une comprehension meilleure et plus objective. Il en va de meme pour la riche moisson epigraphique et numismatique qui surgit de la terre lycienne.
