Die literarhistorische Verortung der Landverteilungstexte Jos 13-19 wurde bislang nur selten untersucht, obschon gerade dieser Abschnitt fur die Redaktionsgeschichte des Josuabuchs und eines moglichen Hexateuchs besonders aufschlussreich ist, zumal redaktionelle Verbindungslinien in das Numeribuch weisen. Mithilfe einer Literarkritik, die sich auf sprachliche und textkritische Beobachtungen stutzt, nicht aber auf historisch-topographische Besonderheiten, arbeitet Erasmus Gass einen priesterlichen Grundtext heraus, der die Landverheissung des Pentateuchs einlost und sich auf sieben Stamme des Westjordanlandes beschrankt. Er zeigt ausserdem, dass sich die Landverteilungstexte sprachlich nicht nur vom dtr. gepragten ersten Teil des Josuabuchs markant abheben, sondern auch redaktionell mit dem Numeribuch gewachsen sind, bevor sie schliesslich in das Josuabuch aufgenommen wurden.
