Axel Buhler developpe des outils methodologiques innovants pour analyser les nombres dans la Bible, montrant comment le corpus de Nombres 1-4 et 26 integre les codes de la litterature hellenistique. Sur la base de son analyse, il soutient que le livre des Nombres, et par consequent le Pentateuque, a pris forme au IIIe siecle av. J.-C.
A l’aide d’un nouvel ensemble d’outils methodologiques, Axel Buhler analyse le corpus de Nombres 1-4 et 26. Sur la base de ses conclusions, il argumente, dans une perspective historico-critique, en faveur d’une composition du livre des Nombres, et par consequent du Pentateuque, au IIIe siecle av. J.-C. L’innovation methodologique porte sur l’etude des nombres dans la Bible et sur leurs implications pour la critique textuelle et l’historicite, a l’intersection entre rhetorique et motifs numeriques. Il demontre comment Nombres 1-4 et 26 integre des codes issus de la litterature de πολιτεία (“constitution”) et de la litterature ἀνάβασις , ces dernieres decrivant des campagnes militaires.
