The Rouen Meeting: Studies on Turkic Structures and Language Contacts contains three sections. In the first section, ‘Turkic structures,’ current linguistic issues in Turkic languages are discussed. In the second section, ‘Turkish linguistic issues,’ researchers of Turkish linguistics present their findings on a rich variety of topics with linguistic analysis as the overarching element. The third section, ‘Turkish language contacts,’ contains research findings of studies on Turkish language contacts in an immigration context. Most of the papers in this book were presented at the 17th International Turkish Linguistics Conference. The Rouen academic gathering was part of a series of international conferences on Turkish linguistics, the only global forum devoted to the study of Turkish and other Turkic languages within the framework of modern linguistics and sociolinguistics. In line with the ‘language contact’ theme of this book, a number of other researchers were asked to contribute to this volume. Scholars working on Turkish and Turkic languages will find new evidence especially on the outcomes of language contact.
