Distinguished works on the excavation in Fuente Álamo (1977–1999) have been published as „Fuente Álamo Part 1 to 4“. These were concerned with the course of the excavation, the settlement and its stratigraphy, its graves as well as findings of stone artefacts and earthenware vessels. The work at hand, the fifth part of the sequence of monographs on Fuente Álamo, is concerned with the partial excavation on the steep southern slope of the hilltop settlement. It touches upon the exemplarily documented stratigraphic excavation in the difficult setting on the slope, the remains of houses and graves found there – one of which was richly adorned with silver ornamentation – as well as the corresponding findings and their relative as well as absolute dating. The supervision of the excavation on the southern slope rested in the experienced hands of Volker Pingel from its beginnings in 1988 up until its premature ending in 1999. After his untimely death in 2005 the important results of this excavation had to be revised and prepared for publication. Pingels colleague Hermanfrid Schubart concluded this task in 2008; it is being presented in the volume at hand.<br/>
Uber die Grabungen in Fuente Alamo (1977-1999) sind bereits als Fuente Alamo Teil 1 bis 4″ Arbeiten uber den Verlauf der Grabung, uber die Siedlung und deren Stratigraphie, uber die Graber sowie uber die Funde von Steingeraten und Tongefassen erschienen. In diesem Teil 5 der Fuente Alamo gewidmeten Monographien-Folge wird nun uber die bedeutsame Teilgrabung auf dem steilen Sudhang der Hohensiedlung berichtet, so uber die beispielhaft dokumentierte Schichtgrabung in der schwierigen Hangsituation, ihre Verzahnungen und die dort angetroffenen Hausreste, auch uber die in einem Falle reich mit Silberschmuck ausgestatteten Graber und das entsprechende Fundmaterial in seiner relativen wie absoluten Zeitstellung.Die Leitung der Grabung auf dem Sudhang lag vom Beginn 1988 an bis zu ihrem vorgezogenen Ende 1999 in den bewahrten Handen von Volker Pingel, doch mussten die wichtigen Ergebnisse nach seinem allzu fruhen Tod im Jahre 2005 erst bearbeitet und fur den Druck vorbereitet werden, eine Aufgabe, die der Mitausgraber Hermanfrid Schubart 2008 abschloss und nun vorgelegt wird.
