By (author) D. Hétier
English summary: Although Karl Rahner did not develop a theology of art for itself, a dozen occasional writings, the dates of which range from 1954 to 1983, testify to a genuine reflection in this field. The intention of this study is to take into consideration this little known and little valued dimension of Rahnerian thought. First, the precise analysis of these texts, gathered here and constituted in the form of a corpus, encourages the discovery of this reflection in its context and process of emergence. These writings develop a strictly theological and fundamental approach by responding to concrete and varied situations. In a second step, a more synthetic and systematic review highlights the axes and fundamental principles of Karl Rahner’s theology of art and thus proposes the outline of a fundamental theology of artistic creation.
