English summary: At the beginning of his pontificate in 590, Gregory the Great wrote the Regula Pastoralis as a manual for his bishops on how to manage their lives and their parishes. This book focuses on the concept of management in his work. The author examines Gregory’s ideas on the duties and responsibilities, the conduct and attitudes of a bishop as well as his psychological and pedagogical reports on the members of the parish. By studying the term regula from the standpoint of the history of concepts as well as church policy, Silke Floryszczak places the analysis of the pastoral rule in its historical context. The author concludes her book with a study of the history of the reception of the pastoral rule in the Carolingian epoch. German description: Zu Beginn seines Pontifikates (590) verfasste Gregor der Grosse die Regula Pastoralis als Handbuch fur die Lebens- und Gemeindefuhrung seiner Bischofe. Die Analyse dieses Fuhrungskonzeptes steht im Mittelpunkt dieses Buches. Dabei werden Gregors Vorstellungen uber die Aufgaben und Pflichten, Verhaltensweisen und Haltungen eines Bischofs ebenso wie seine psychologisch-padagogischen Ausfuhrungen uber die Gemeindemitglieder herausgestellt. Silke Floryszczak bettet die Analyse der Pastoralregel durch eine begriffsgeschichtliche Untersuchung des Terminus regula und durch kirchenpolitische Uberlegungen in ihren historischen Horizont ein. Dabei stellt sich heraus, dass Gregors kirchenleitendes Konzept der abtlichen Leitungsfunktion des Klosters entspringt und von ihm wie selbstverstandlich auf das Bischofsamt ubertragen wird. Aus der Kenntnis der Situation der Bischofe in Italien am Ende des 6. Jahrhunderts wird sein Leitungskonzept zugleich auch ein Sicherungsinstrument der kirchlichen Herrschaft, denn die Bischofe waren in einer nun christlich gewordenen Welt zustandig fur das Seelenheil der Glaubigen. Die Autorin schliesst ihr Buch mit einer rezeptionsgeschichtlichen Studie zur Pastoralregel in der Karolingerzeit ab. Hier ist zugleich Kontinuitat und Wandel des Bischofs- und Fuhrungsideals zu erkennen, denn nicht mehr allein die Bischofe werden als Adressaten der Regula aufgefasst, sondern auch fur die weltlichen Herrscher gewinnt sie an Bedeutung.
