English summary: In this study, Hajnalka Ravasz examines the nature of pastoral care within Pauline congregations using social-psychological theories. After some introductory epistemological questions, she explores the relevance of role models, the role of the pastor, mourning processes, and the means of pastoral care among the church members. The term pastoral care is not found in the Bible, although traces of successful and unsuccessful pastoral care practices are evident in 1 Thessalonians. After a diligent exegesis, the author presents social-psychological theories and employs them for textual analysis. She thus reveals social systems of relationships, Paul’s interactions with his congregations, and the clashes in their relationship, stimulating intra- and interdisciplinary dialogue. German description: In dieser Studie untersucht Hajnalka Ravasz Prozesse der Seelsorge in den paulinischen Gemeinden unter Ruckgriff auf sozialpsychologische Theorien. Nach epistemologischer Einleitung fragt sie nach der Relevanz der Vorbilder, der Rolle des Seelsorgers, den Trauerprozessen und der Praxis der Seelsorge in den paulinischen Gemeinden. Der Begriff “Seelsorge” findet sich in der Bibel zwar nicht; Spuren gelungener und misslungener Seelsorgeprozesse sind aber im 1. Thessalonicherbrief des Paulus greifbar. Neben einer grundlichen Exegese der einschlagigen Texte werden sozialpsychologische Theorien vorgestellt und fur die Textanalyse angewendet. So deckt die Autorin soziale Beziehungssysteme auf und zeigt die Interaktionen des Apostels mit seinen Gemeinden einschliesslich der konfliktbeladenen Beziehungskonstellationen. Dadurch eroffnet sie neue Sichtweisen auf den Heidenapostel und seine Gemeinden und regt zum intra- und interdisziplinaren Dialog an.
