In den im vorliegenden Band gesammelten Aufsatzen thematisiert Markus Witte an ausgewahlten Texten grundsatzliche text- und literaturgeschichtliche Probleme des Sirachbuchs, arbeitet dessen eigenstandiges Verstandnis von Geschichte heraus, profiliert die unterschiedlichen in ihm vertretenen Theologien und bestimmt dessen Stellung im Rahmen der fruhjudischen Weisheit. Exemplarisch werden dabei weitere fruhjudische Schriften, zumal die Sapientia Sa lomonis, mit ihren je eigenen anthropologischen, ethischen und theologischen Vorstellungen in den Blick genommen.
