English summary: There are numerous publications, monographs, articles and lectures concerning the archaeological discovery of graves in Egypt. In the foreground stands the research and work experiences of the scholars, who support the projects and offer analytical statements about such matters as the use of space and place in the course of pharaonic history, a part of their contribution to different academic fields engaged with understanding the past. Very little mention is made in the scholarly literature, however, about the excavation workers themselves, who, through their physical labor, are an essential part of the discovery and excavation processes. The author challenges this lacuna in the scholarly literature and places the excavators of the Asyut Project at the center of its attention. In 21 interviews, conducted by Tin Beck in 2011, the excavators comment on their motivations, perceptions of the division of labor during the excavation, and their comprehension of the project and the various connections among the scholars. The results are a study that is rooted in the scholarly perspective of post-colonial archeology and makes a critical reflection on the state and nature of archeological work possible. Keine bzw. kaum Erwahnung finden in den Veroffentlichungen die Grabungsarbeiter, die durch ihre korperliche Arbeit jedoch maageblich zu den Funden und Erkenntnissen beitragen. Diese Publikation wechselt daher die Perspektive und stellt die lokalen Grabungsarbeiter des Asyut Project in den Mittelpunkt. In 21 Interviews, die Tina Beck 2011 mit diesen Mannern fuhrte, wurden Motivation, Wahrnehmung der Einteilung in bestimmte Arbeitspositionen sowie das Verhaltnis zum Projekt und den beteiligten WissenschaftlerInnen erfragt. Die Ergebnisse werden vor dem theoretischen Hintergrund der Postkolonialen Archaologie prasentiert und ermoglichen eine kritische Reflexion archaologischer Arbeitsweisen.
