English summary: This volume presents essays on Paul and the Gospel of John written by leading German, Norwegian and Swiss New Testament scholars. They deal with central issues of Pauline and Johannine interpretation, for example the religious-historical background and function of dualism in the Gospel of John, the hermeneutical problem of Johannine metaphors, the structure of arguments in Rom 5, Israel’s rejection and acceptance according to Rom 9-11, the formcritical definition of the letter to the Galatians, and the phrase works of the law, in particular the way it is seen in the ‘new perspectives on Paul’. The final essay in the book discusses common features and differences between Pauline and Johannine literature. Zu Themenbereich ‘Paulus’ analysiert David Hellholm die Argumentationsstruktur in Rom 5, Reinhard von Bendemann stellt die Rede vom Zorn Gottes (Rom/1Thess) in den Kontext hellenistisch-romischer Konzeptionen, Dieter Sanger thematisiert das Geschick Israels nach Rom 9-11, Gerhard Sellin befasst sich mit asthetischen Aspekten der paulinischen Sprache, Ulrich Mell bestimmt den Galaterbrief als ein gemeindeleitendes Schreiben, Samuel Vollenweider problematisiert die These einer politischen Theologie im Philipperbrief, Otfried Hofius untermauert das traditionelle Verstandnis des Syntagmas Werke des Gesetzes, Gerd Theissen geht verschiedenen Deutungen des Todes Jesu nach, und Andreas Lindemann erortert das Verhaltnis des christlichen Apostels Paulus zum pharisaischen Juden Paulus. Im Schlussbeitrag untersucht Jurgen Becker das Verhaltnis des johanneischen Kreises zum Paulinismus.
