Die vorliegende Sammlung von Einzelstudien Ulrike Mittmanns zielt auf einen hermeneutischen Neuansatz in der Grundlegung einer Theologie des Neuen Testaments. Neu gegenuber allen bisherigen Versuchen, das Neue Testament einer theologischen Gesamtanalyse zu unterziehen, ist die fur alle untersuchten Schriften geltende Verankerung in der alttestamentlich-judischen Weisheit. Die Autorin zeigt, dass die christologische Entwicklung sich im Horizont der alttestamentlich-judischen Weisheit vollzog, die in hellenistischer Zeit alle Bereiche theologischer Reflexion umfassend systematisierte. Die Systematisierung ging einher mit der Ausformung eines binitarischen Gottesbildes, das wegweisend war fur die christologische Reflexion des Urchristentums und die spatere Ausbildung eines trinitarischen Gottesbildes.
