Dans sa Deuxieme Partie, le Catechisme de l’Eglise catholique, approuve par Jean-Paul II en juin 1992, expose comment le mystere pascal est rendu present dans la liturgie, particulierement dans les sacrements et les sacramentaux. Dans le present volume, chaque chapitre, article et paragraphes de cette Deuxieme Partie est confronte – comme ce fut deja le cas dans le volume precedent ou figure une evaluation de la Premiere Partie, le Symbole des apotres – aux enseignements du Catechisme tridentin (1566), du Directorium catechisticum generale (1971) et des schemas preparatoires envoyes a des “consulteurs” (le 3e, 1987) et a tous les eveques (le 5e, 1989). Un regard sur les nouveaux rituels d’apres concile et sur les principaux catechismes pour adultes publies recemment par des conferences episcopales a egalement permis d’apprecier le texte finalement adopte. Avant de parcourir les 625 paragraphes sur “la celebration du mystere chretien”, la question du plan du catechisme est soulevee: pourquoi avoir repris l’ordre deja suivi en 1566 par le Catechisme romain? Et un epilogue rassemble les principales conclusions de la confrontation des documents; il pose un certain nombre de questions sur les choix operes par le Catechisme de l’Eglise catholique (jusqu’en son edition typique de 1997) comme sur les omissions constatees et s’interroge sur la pertinence d’affirmations peu accessibles a de tres nombreux destinataires non inities.
