Koptische liturgische Melodien
By (author) M. Kuhn
This volume contains a study on the musical aspects of Coptic liturgy, the music of Egypts Christian community, focusing on the melodies of the psalmodies for analyses and musical transcriptions. The first part consists of a concise overview of Coptic musical history, an introduction to psalmodies, and examples of contemporary musical notations. The second part provides analyses of various melodies utilized in the psalmodies and a comparison of different interpretations. The third and final part contains the transcriptions of the analyzed melodies in Western musical notation. An accompanying CD provides selected examples of sung psalmodies.
