The studies evolved primarily from lectures given by the author and thus reflect a part of his scholarly development, his arguments and his interests. At the same time they show that the way he deals with philology and history, the question concerning the truth of the Gospel and his opinions of contemporary issues cannot be separated from the author’s “theological existence”, and that it is this interaction which makes his exegetical and theological work so productive.
