The letters of Heinrich Bullinger (1504-1575) are an important contemporary source for the era, and provide unique insight into matters political, cultural, church historical, biographical, as well as economical, meteorological, and astronomical. This volume contains 261 letters preserved from the year 1545.
Der Briefwechsel des Zurcher Antistes Heinrich Bullinger (1504-1575) ist eine bedeutende epistolarische Quelle sowohl in politischer, kultureller, kirchenhistorischer, mentalitatsgeschichtlicher, biografischer als auch in wirtschaftlicher, meteorologischer und astronomischer Hinsicht. Im vorliegenden Band sind die 261 erhaltenen Briefe aus dem Jahr 1545 veroffentlicht. Der Eidgenossenschaft und ihren Verbundeten kommt in der Korrespondenz mit Personen aus Basel, Bern, Lausanne, Graubunden (darunter italienische Glaubesfluchtlinge) und St. Gallen eine besondere Bedeutung zu. So ergeben sich etwa neue Erkenntnisse zur Reformation im Appenzellerland sowie die Moglichkeit, die Entstehung der Eidgenossischen Chronik von Johannes Stumpf und Vadians Mitarbeit daran zu verfolgen. Auf kirchenhistorischer Ebene spielen der Kolner Reformationsversuch und die Auseinandersetzungen der Zurcher Kirche mit Martin Luther und Johannes Cochlaus eine besondere Rolle. Auch zu Johannes Calvin liefert der Band bislang Unbekanntes.
