English summary: Between the world wars German scholars committed themselves to a search for new methods of engaging with legal history. In addition to this an obvious generational change – almost a rupture – took place among German legal historians. Johannes Liebrecht depicts the characteristics of young legal history and its entanglement with the crisis of historicism between the 1880s and 1930s. German description: In der Epoche zwischen etwa 1880 und 1930 durchliefen die Humanwissenschaften international einen tiefgreifenden Wandel und Umorientierungsprozess. Auch die Rechtshistoriographie war wahrend der Zwischenkriegszeit von einer engagierten Suche nach methodischen Neuanfangen gezeichnet. Mit dem Zusammenbruch der Monarchie sah sich insbesondere die sogenannte Germanistik nach 1918 abrupt der Krise des Historismus ausgesetzt; begleitet wurde dies von einem augenfalligen Generationenwandel unter den Gelehrten. Johannes Liebrecht identifiziert die unterschiedlichen Impulse und hauptsachlichen Erneuerungsdiskurse dieser Jahre und versucht, die Rechtsgeschichtswissenschaft in ihrem Prozess der Modernisierung abzubilden.
