Die Literatur der Zoroastrier nach der Zeit der grossen Pahlawi-Werke des 9.-11. Jahrhunderts bildet einen weitgehend unbeachteten Bereich der Zoroastrismusforschung wie der iranischen Literaturgeschichte uberhaupt. Angesichts des Niederganges der zoroastrischen Kirche mag es nicht verwundern, wenn diese – zumeist in neupersischer oder awestischer Schrift verfasste – Literatur vor allem bewahrende Funktion hatte. Die Studie zeigt, dass es in dieser allgemeinen Tendenz spate Versuche gegeben hat, das Pahlavi wiederzubeleben, so in der bis heute unaufgeschlossenen Handschrift MU 29. Die in ihr enthaltene Erzahlung von Tahmuras- und Gam?id und deren Handel mit dem Teufel war bislang nur in neupersischen Textversionen bekannt, denen nun ein (retranskribierter) Pahlawi-Text zur Seite gestellt werden kann. Die Gegenuberstellung der drei verschiedenen Textfassungen bietet einen genauen Einblick in die Komposition und Vermittlung literarischer Stoffe in der spateren zoroastrischen Tradition. Religionshistorisch ist die Erzahlung von Interesse, als hier eine aus der alteren Literatur ganz unbekannte Gam?id-Legende nun dieser zentralen Figur der iranischen Sagenwelt hinzugefugt werden kann.
