English summary: This volume includes thirteen articles on the interpretation of Hebrews written between 1993 and 2009. They focus on the concept of God, Christology, the intertextual and figurative modes of generating and developing biblical theology, the relationship between Israel and the church, the history of Christian hope and anxiety and the ethical foundation of Christian sociality. The Epistle to the Hebrews shows the connection between these areas in the first sentence: God’s self communication in Israel’s history of promise, completed and guaranteed in the Christ drama. Thus the book presents the multifaceted image of a pioneer of theology who has often been underestimated by the church and by scholars. Biblically oriented, thoughtful, rhetorically skilled and (contrary to many a prejudice) practically competent, Hebrews explores the speaking God in order to define and deepen Christian identity in the crisis of its liminal period. German description: In methodologischer Vielfalt spiegeln die dreizehn Beitrage dieses Sammelbandes facettenreich und in engem Kontakt zur aktuellen Forschung den Gang der Hebraerbrief-Exegese der beiden letzten Jahrzehnte wider. Ihr Schwerpunkt liegt auf dem Gottesbild, der Christologie, der intertextuellen Gewinnung und symbolsprachlichen Entwicklung biblischer Aussageweisen, dem Verhaltnis zwischen Israel und der Kirche, der Hoffnungs- und Angstgeschichte des Urchristentums und der ethischen Grundlegung kirchlicher Sozialitat. Was diese unterschiedlichen Felder verbindet, sagt der Hebraerbrief in seinem ersten Satz: Gottes Selbstmitteilung in der Verheissungsgeschichte Israels und im Christus-Drama, das diese Geschichte verburgt und vollendet und die Glaubens- und Lebensgeschichte der Getauften sehr konkret verwandelt. Der hinfuhrende Beitrag wirbt dafur, die hermeneutischen Chancen dieses ungewohnlichen Schreibens wahrzunehmen, das in Wissenschaft und Kirche Vielen noch immer wie ein Fremdkorper im Neuen Testament erscheint. Biblisch orientiert, denkerisch anspruchsvoll, rhetorisch gezielt und (gegen manches Vorurteil) lebenspraktisch kompetent, legt der Hebraerbrief den ‘sprechenden Gott’ aus, um christliche Identitat in der Krise einer Schwellenzeit zu begrunden und zu vertiefen. Er ist weder ‘weltfremd’ noch ‘schwierig’. Er ist der erste Versuch einer offenen christlichen Redekultur und, gerade mit seiner aufschreckenden Leidenschaft, ein Pionierstuck der theologischen Vernunft.
