Nabk liegt in der Bergregion des Qalamun, ca. 80 km nordlich von Damaskus. In sprachlicher Hinsicht ist diese Gegend Syriens extrem zergliedert: In drei Dorfern wird noch das Neuwestaramaische gesprochen, die archaischste aller lebenden aramaischen Sprachen, und auch die arabischen Dialekte variieren extrem von Ort zu Ort.
