Aus unterschiedlichen Traditionslinien wurden die Vorstellungen eines jenseitigen Gerichts sowie einer Auferstehung der Toten in das alttestamentliche Hiobbuch eingeschrieben. Mit der Hoffnung auf eine den Tod uberdauernden Gottesbeziehung wird Hiob eine neue Antwort auf seine Fragen und Anklagen gegeben: einen Ausgleich im Jenseits fur seine diesseitigen Leiden.
