English summary: The mummy as monster has been a constant theme in the horror genre since the earliest days of cinema in the 20th century. This image has been definitively shaped by The Mummy (USA, 1932), whose themes served as the exemplar for a variety of remakes including The Mummy (UK 1959), The Mummy Lives (USA 1993), and The Mummy (USA 1999). These four mummy-films serve as an important case study for Egyptologists interested in the popularization of Egyptian culture in modern pop-culture media. Yvonne Vosmann connects in her research into the communicative performance of the medium of fil, with its function as a storehouse of memory in the sense of cultural memory and develops from these considerations the thesis of a medially charged narration of the mummy figure in the horror genre. Vosmanns examination based of these four films succeeds by employing film analysis, which considers the content-aesthetic and formal-technical implementation of the mummy theme. The results of this analysis show that the films are not only situated in a narrative context, but also carry over their underlying concepts through the presentation of an often academically accurate reception of the Egypt-image. The interdisciplinary study underscores the relevance of current media formats as an investigative topic for the study of the reception of the image of Egypt and ancient Egyptian culture. Besonders pragend erscheint The Mummy (USA 1932), der als Vorbild fur die Remakes The Mummy (GB 1959), The Mummy Lives (USA 1993) und The Mummy (USA 1999) gilt.
