L’ambito di ricerca trattato in questo volume e un passo situato all’interno del 2 discorso di Pietro (Att. 3,19-21) ossia il richiamo a penitenza. Il testo presenta una concentrazione notevole di difficolta di vario genere. Esse vanno da una inattesa struttura del testo alla presenza di particolarita stilistiche e di vocabolario fino alla possibilita di prospettive teologiche non abituali o formulate in modo insolito. Dal punto di vista teologico il testo ha assunto speciale importanza all’interno della discussione ancora aperta sulle primitive formulazioni della cristologia. Parallelamente e in rapporto al problema cristologico, affiora nel passo anche una scottante questione escatologica. Tutti gli interrogativi che questo testo suscita hanno contribuito ad attirare su di esso l’attenzione e la considerazione di diversi esegeti. Un noto studioso degli Atti degli Apostoli, J. Dupont, ne ha sottolineato l’importanza da una certa angolatura; egli afferma a riguardo di AA. 3,19-21: Ces deux versets qui appliquent au retour du Christ ce que l’esperance juive attendait du retour d’Elie, constituent un cas d’application tres interessant du probleme du rapport entre tradition et redaction dans la composition des discours des Actes. Si desidera in questo libro vedere se Luca abbia realmente assunto un tratto di tradizione ed eventualmente i motivi che lo possono aver spinto a cio.
