Various Visions of Smart Cities
The Linguistic Perspectives
Edited by Melanie Ellis Edited by Grzegorz Wlaźlak
Are Smart Cities losing the “human” touch? Can linguistics help us build better cities?
This volume represents a collaborative endeavor involving researchers from various institutions within the field of linguistics. Rather than aiming for exhaustive treatment of the subject, the contributors seek to offer selected perspectives on certain issues concerning technological disruptive innovations and their influence on language, education, and knowledge in the context of modern cities, nowadays named Smart Cities. They hope that the intellectual challenges emerging from linguistics, understood as a pluralistic field, will help chart new pathways between the humanities and digital technology, contributing to the development of more human-oriented cities under the influence of academic environments.
