The study treats 85 Late Egyptian coffins proceeding from the town of Achmim. Each coffin is presented individually, including information about the owner, descriptions of the pictorial representations and translations of all inscriptions. A comparison of all decorations shows that most coffins were decorated with one out of five different patterns. The patterns are described and dated taking into consideration the respective iconographic, linguistic and epigraphic characteristics; in this way, all coffins could be dated. The prosopographic information inscribed on the coffins allows conclusions about the provenance, family relations and careers of the male and female owners of the coffins. German text.
