English summary: In the narratives of the Books of Samuel, Saul and David are not only two different individual figures; they also represent their kingdoms Israel and Judah. Thus the contrast between the two kings as a continuous distinguishing historiographic feature also reflects the Israelite-Judean conflict. Klaus-Peter Adam deals with the figures and the plot of the narratives and integrates their themes into the entire Deuteronomic history. The author shows how the covenants and rebellious upheavals form an important thematic link between the epoch of the former kings in the Books of Samuel and the epoch of the divided monarchy in the Books of the Kings. He also demonstrates how biblical historiography can be seen within the broader field of ancient historiography. German description: In den Erzahlungen der Samuelbucher stehen Saul und David einander nicht nur als Einzelfiguren gegenuber, sondern reprasentieren auch ihre jeweiligen Reiche Israel und Juda. Das durchgangige Kompositionsmerkmal des Figurenkontrastes spiegelt deshalb auch den israelitisch-judaischen Gegensatz. Klaus-Peter Adam widmet sich der Figurenkonstellation und Handlungsabfolge der Erzahlungen und ordnet Motive und Themen in die Geschichtsschreibung der Samuel- und der Konigebucher ein. Ihre Bezuge zur ubrigen Uberlieferung von den Konigen Judas und Israels liegen besonders in der judaischen Perspektive begrundet, die sich bereits in den Quellen der Konigebucher nachweisen lasst. Wie in diesen Quellen der israelitisch-judaischen Konigsgeschichte erweisen sich Bundnisse und Aufstande auch als entscheidende geschichtliche Ereignisse der narrativen Entfaltungen um die Figuren Saul und David. Die Eigenarten dieser Erzahlungen, ihre Konzeption als paradigmatische Vorgeschichte zur spateren Konigsabfolge und ihr Uberlieferungswachstum werden im Vergleich mit anderen Werken antiker Geschichtsschreibung bestimmt.
