The starting point of this study is the literary-scientific model of Relecture conceived in Zurich in the 1990s, which is brought into conversation with cultural-scientific-memory-theoretical insights into processes of collective formation of the past. In doing so, a new hermeneutical perspective on the text and its formation emerges, the yield of which is explicated using the example of John 21. The study thus contributes to the hermeneutical reflection within the exegesis of John and combines different innovative approaches to a new thesis for the genesis of the Gospel of John.
