Die Stadte und Regionen, die man heute als Ruhrgebiet kennt, zahlen historisch nicht gerade zu den Kernlanden der Reformation. Die pragenden Personlichkeiten der Reformationszeit sind nie in dieser Gegend im Westen des heutigen Deutschland gewesen. Und doch haben auch diese sehr unterschiedlichen Gebiete ihre eigene(n) Reformationsgeschichte(n). Das Journal erzahlt anschaulich und reich bebildert, wie die Region Ruhr lutherisch wurde. Diese besondere Reformationsgeschichte ist uber weite Strecken auch eine Zuwanderungsgeschichte in ein Ballungsgebiet mit heute rund 5,1 Mio. Einwohnern. Die Beitrage schlagen Brucken von den Anfangen der Reformation bis in die heutige Zeit – mit vielen Facetten, die Starken und Schwachen, Eigenschaften und Eigenarten dieser vielfaltigen Metropolregion deutlich werden lassen.
