English summary: Osiris, a god of the dead and a dead god, was praised and characterized in numerous hymns by the ancient Egyptians. These hymns, however, are always functional texts, created with the goal of usage, preserved due to intentional recording. In this study, Daniela C. Luft traces the previous types of usage and contexts of four groups of hymns and describes their varied history in the form of textual biographies. She shows, therefore, how the content of the texts and their application to various materials were dependent on designated uses and functions. The hymns are presented in text editions and critical synopses with their textual variations. The evidence, as the hymns were recreated from already existing textual materials, the author renders into a fascinating case study for the mechanisms of religious textual production of the ancient Egyptians.
