Nima Yusig, der als Vater der modernen persischen Lyrik gilt, schrieb 1938 das Gedicht Qoqnus, dessen Entstehung als die Vollendung der Geburt der modernen persischen Lyrik angesehen werden muss. Knapp 70 Jahre danach und obwohl diese Lyrik sich nach anfanglichen Widerstanden langst ihren Platz in der iranischen Gesellschaft gesichert hat, hat man sich in der westlichen Welt noch nicht gebuhrend mit ihr beschaftigt. Immer noch gehen Veroffentlichungen, die man in europaischen Sprachen uber die moderne persische Lyrik findet, kaum uber Anthologien und Dichterbiographien hinaus. Vor diesem Hintergrund, aber auch angesichts der Defizite in der persischsprachigen Kritik zur modernen persischen Lyrik, wird in diesem Band die Lyrik vorgestellt und sich mit der Leistung bzw. der Lyrik jener Dichter auseinander gesetzt, die sich mehr als alle anderen um sie verdient gemacht haben: Nima Yusig, Mehdi Ahawan Talet, Forug Farrohzad und Ahmad Samlu. Der Autor geht dabei analytisch vor und orientiert sich ausschliesslich an literarischen Kriterien. Er ermoglicht dem Leser einen Einblick in die Geschichte, in die theoretischen und praktischen Grundlagen und vor allem in die spezifischen Eigenschaften der modernen persischen Lyrik.
