Seit nahezu 200 Jahren wird die iranische bzw. zoroastrische Apokalypse erforscht. Sie ist von grosser Wichtigkeit fur die altiranische Kultur und Religion. Die Hauptquellen dieser Apokalypse sind auf Mittelpersisch niedergelegt und haben ihre endgultige Fassung im ersten islamischen Jahrhundert (9. und 10. Jh.) erhalten. Shahrokh Raeis Untersuchung fuhrt die unterschiedlichen Elemente, Motive und Ansatze, die sich in den apokalyptischen Texten finden lassen, zusammen. Die Texte werden transkribiert und ubersetzt, die relevanten apokalyptischen Begriffe werden qualitativ und quantitativ miteinander verglichen. Die Frage nach dem wechselseitigen Einfluss der iranischen Apokalypse auf die judisch-christliche ist seit langer Zeit ein wichtiges Thema der Orientforschung. Der Vergleich mittelpersischer Texte gibt hier neuen Erkenntnissen Raum. So ist es beispielsweise von grossem Interesse, dass die Weltalterlehre nur im Zand i -Wahman Yasn auftaucht, in anderen Texten aber abwesend ist. Ebenso von Bedeutung ist die ausfuhrliche Darstellung der Auferstehung, die ausschliesslich in Wizidagiha i Zadspram vorhanden ist.
