Das biblische Buch Micha geht auf den Propheten Micha von Moreschet (8. Jh. v. Chr.) zuruck, erhielt seine Endgestalt aber vielleicht erst im 3. Jh. v. Chr. Es bildet in der hebraischen Bibel die Mitte des Zwolfprophetenbuches, dieses Kompendiums der israelitischen Schriftprophetie. In Micha laufen Linien zusammen, die von Hosea und Amos mit ihrer Kritik an Samaria ausgehen. Von Micha gehen Linien aus, die bis ans Ende des Zwolfprophetenbuches reichen. Micha enthalt scharfe sozialkritische Passagen, aber auch die bekannte Weissagung von der Volkerwallfahrt zum Zion. Fur die christliche Wirkungsgeschichte wurde die Prophetie vom kommenden Herrscher aus Betlehem bedeutend. Ziel des vorliegenden Kommentars ist es, Micha als das Herzstuck des Zwolfprophetenbuches in seiner Ganzheit zu erfassen.
