Philippe Desportes’ Les Premieres OEuvres, published in 1573, is a Mannerist poetry collection in the neo-Petrarchan tradition. This first edition initiated a long editorial movement which successfully inscribed Desportes’ writing in the French poetic landscape.

Review - French Les Premieres OEuvresde Philippe Desportes, favori du roi Henri III, sont un des titres qui, apres leur premiere publication en 1573, paraissent avec le plus de regularite jusqu'au debut du XVIIsiecle. Augmentees et reorganisees, ces poesies d'inspiration neopetrarquiste composees dans un style manieriste ne comptent alors pas moins de quarante-cinq editions, autorisees ou non, et deja vingt-trois au cours des regnes des deux derniers Valois. L'edition princeps de ce recueil, qu'on pourra lire ici, est donc l'amorce d'un mouvement editorial qui inscrit fermement l'ecriture de Desportes dans le paysage poetique francais. Signe d'une modulation des gouts dans le dernier tiers du XVIsiecle, cette edition fixe un succes naissant qui va se reveler durable.
