L’hymnographie georgienne ancienne est le temoin le plus direct de l’hymnodie grecque de la Jerusalem des IVe-Ve siecles. Ceci est particulierement vrai des temoins de l’ancien oktoechos georgien, appele Hymnes de la Resurrection, dont chacun des manuscrits revet une physionomie propre. Seule avait ete publiee jusqu’a maintenant la traduction du Sinai georgien 18 du Xe siecle. Le present volume qui comprend la traduction des Sinai 40, 41 et 34, du Xe siecle egalement, apporte, parmi des textes propres consacres au Christ Sauveur, un nouveau type d’hymnes a la vierge Marie : des Eloges de la sainte Mere de Dieu qui chantent, uniquement a l’aide de figures bibliques, le role de Marie dans l’economie du salut.
