English summary: This volume faces the study of an Asiatic city that has had the strange destiny to have been forgotten by scientific scholars, despite the presence of numerous and complex monumental remains. The author proposes the reconstruction of the historical developments and of the local pantheon based on the literary sources which are then integrated with an analysis of all the civic currency issued. The analysis of the monuments identifies a complex and articulated situation with architectural features that date from the Hellenistic period down to the Byzantine. For the most part, these are seen as part of the regular urban context. Italian description: Il volume affronta lo studio di una citta asiatica che ha avuto lo strano destino di essere stata a lungo dimenticata dall’attenzione scientifica, nonostante la presenza di numerose e complesse evidenze monumentali. L’autore propone la ricostruzione degli sviluppi storici e del pantheon cittadino partendo dalle fonti letterarie, integrate dall’analisi di tutte le emissioni monetali civiche. L’analisi dei monumenti evidenzia una situazione complessa ed articolata, con presenze architettoniche che vanno dal periodo ellenistico sino a quello bizantino, per la maggior parte dei casi inserite in un contesto urbanistico regolare.
