This volume considers the crossing and transcending of boundaries in the Renaissance as a practice that was itself constitutive of the Renaissance identity. Transgressions of aesthetic, linguistic, scientific and spatial boundaries are investigated using myriad approaches as well as through an interdisciplinary lens. The ensemble of contributions serves as a stimulus for calling into question widely held assumptions about the Renaissance.
