Impliziert die Rede von Gott als Konig Kritik an der Institution menschlichen Konigtums? Gehoren gottliches und irdisches Konigtum eng zusammen? Oder stehen sie unverbunden nebeneinander? Auf der Grundlage der Psalmen und im Horizont altorientalischer Konigtumsvorstellungen vergleicht Marcel Krusche die Konzeptionen von gottlichem und irdischem Konigtum und beschreibt deren Verhaltnis. Daraus ergibt sich, dass in den Psalmen zwar vereinzelt antithetische Verhaltnisbestimmungen zur Sprache kommen, aber uber weite Strecken eine harmonische Verbindung zwischen gottlicher und menschlicher Konigsherrschaft vorausgesetzt ist, auch wenn sie in den JHWH-Konig-Psalmen und den Konigspsalmen selten explizit ausgesprochen wird. Diese Zusammengehorigkeit zeigt sich nicht nur auf der Ebene der Einzelpsalmen, sondern auch in deren Anordnung in der Komposition des Psalters.
