The last book of the Bible is often regarded as a “book of seven seals,” written in a strange metaphorical language as a harbinger of looming doom, frightening the reader. On the background of a history of the reception of the Apocalypse in church and culture, this volume explains the book, its motifs, and the composition of its impressive imagery.
