Bei den Tributszenen des Neuen Reiches handelt es sich um Fremdvolkerdarstellungen, die das Darbringen fremdlandischer jnw-Gaben vor dem agyptischen Konig und/oder Gott darstellen. Die drei ikonographischen Faktoren Fremdvolk, fremdlandische Gaben und Empfanger, die eine Tributszene formal definieren, sind allerdings nur im Idealfall zu finden, so dass sich eine Unterteilung des Materials in sechs Gruppen anbietet. Als Basis fur die Untersuchung dienten 55 Dokumente, die in erster Linie Privatgrabern entstammen, jedoch auch einige wenige Dokumente aus koniglichen Monumenten. In dieser Arbeit werden in einem uber 200-seitigen Katalogteil erstmals alle zuganglichen Quellen des Neuen Reiches zusammengestellt, analysiert und interpretiert. Silke Hallmann gelingt es dabei erstmals, faktische Beweise fur die These, dass es sich bei dem Dargestellten nicht um Tribute handelte, zu liefern. Die untersuchten bildlichen Quellen zeigen neben dem Bringen diverser jnw-Gaben aus den Fremdlandern ebenso Szenen der Verwaltung von jnw-Gaben. Auch wird die Existenz von Tributen oder Tributbeziehungen in Nachbardisziplinen wie beispielsweise der Altorientalistik in einem eigenen Kapitel beleuchtet. Zahlreiche Indices zu geographischen Bezeichnungen und fremdlandischen Gaben machen diesen Band zu einem hilfreichen Nachschlagewerk fur alle, die sich mit dem Thema Tribut, Handelsbeziehungen, jnw-Gaben und Fremdvolkertypen wie Syrer, Nubier, Agaer, Hybride Syrer/Agaer, Puntbewohner, Libyer, Hethiter und Mitanni beschaftigen.
