Die Jahre 1658-1662 stellen so etwas wie einen origenistischen Moment innerhalb der englischen Theologie dar, der neben Ubersetzungen und Werkeditionen ganze im Geiste des Origenes entworfene philosophische Systementwurfe hervorbringt. Die 1661 anonym erscheinende Schrift des anglikanischen Bischofs George Rust ist ein Manifest des neuzeitlichen Origenismus: In kritischer Auseinandersetzung mit den neuen Philosophien eines Hobbes oder Descartes einerseits und der calvinistischen Theologie andererseits schreibt der Autor darin auf originelle Weise grundlegende Einsichten des Origenes fort.
