English Summary: The productive discussion on antiquity is one of the constants of European culture history that has not only established an explicit perspective in periods like the Renaissance or classicism. However, already in antiquity, there are various strategies on creating value from the past, in which its modelling role for the Post Classic period has already been set. In this work, ancient and post classic cases meet to interpret looking back through history as a process of creative acquirement that resembles a cross-epochal dialogue. The ten articles in this anthology emerge from a series of lectures of the Katholische Universitat Eichstatt-Ingolstadt and show the creative potential of the fallback to the past by means of showcase studies from antiquity, Late Antiquity, Early Modern Age, and modernity. They also point out the cross-epochal dimension of this phenomenon. German Description: Die produktive Auseinandersetzung mit dem Altertum gehort zu den Konstanten der europaischen Kulturgeschichte, und dies nicht nur in jenen Epochen, in denen diese eine explizite Programmatik begrundet hat wie in Renaissance oder Klassizismus. Allerdings lassen sich bereits in der Antike vielfaltige Strategien der Sinnstiftung aus der Vergangenheit greifen, in denen deren modellbildende Rolle fur die nachantiken Epochen vorgepragt ist. Dabei begegnen sich antike und nachantike Falle darin, dass sie den Blick zuruck als einen Prozess kreativer Aneignung begreifen, der Zuge eines epochenubergreifenden Dialogs tragt. Die zehn Beitrage des Sammelbands, die aus einer Vortragsreihe an der Katholischen Universitat Eichstatt-Ingolstadt hervorgehen, deuten in exemplarischen Studien aus Antike, Spatantike, Fruher Neuzeit und Moderne das gestalterische Potential an, das dem Ruckgriff auf die Vergangenheit zu eigen ist, und weisen in ihrer Gesamtschau auf die transhistorische Dimension des Phanomens hin.
