Dendara. Hymnes à Hathor et à Isis
By (author) S. Cauville
The Tentyrite temples of Hathor and Isis preserve in stone hymns, sometimes stylistically reworked in the Greco-Roman period, engraved in an original way on the door frames. From the heart of the temple to the doors of the pronaos, they accompany the steps of the priests during the festive processions. The sound of the sistrums give rhythm to the prayers, the fragrances of the perfumes mingle with floral odors, the selected drinks and dishes exhale their savors in a ballet of colored fabrics and shimmering ornaments-everything contributes to arouse the extraordinary fascination exerted by the divinity. Sky, horizon, sun, light, gold, perfume, sistrum, these words came to life and celebrated the incomparable beauty of Hathor, the daughter of Re: the temple is thus a visual and acoustic library and archive.
