This volume of the catalogue of Chinese Buddhist texts continues a project which started already in 1965. It is the third publication in the series which will be completed with a fourth catalogue. Both volumes were prepared by the late Kudara Kogi. Whereas volumes 1 and 2 focus on Chinese Buddhist texts in the collection of German expeditions, volume 3 and 4 intend to inspect and catalogue material from around the world: Kudara’s research took him to Berlin as well as to manuscript collections in London, Paris, Stockholm, Helsinki and Istanbul. These materials will contribute not only to establishing the periods of transcription, but also to progress in the study of Buddhism in the Turfan region.
